my 1998 GT CV boot has been dragging on the frame. I thought it was the engine mount, but inspection shows nothing wrong. Maybe the tranmission mount? Any suggestion would be nice.

Either mount being excessively worn will cause the engine to sit lover. I don't think the trans mounts are oil filled, so I don't think that would cause a large drop. How do you know it's dragging? If you saw it, you should post a pic.

Trans mount and engine mount are both hydraulic.
Have someone press on brake hard while in drive and have them press the throttle. Do this while in drive and in reverse, backa nd fourth. If you hear knocking or the engine is moving to much then one or both are blown.

Thanks to all. With your help and a DIY video my brother and I raised the engine and in about four hours Replaced three of the four motor mounts. That was totally the problem. Easier than I thought. Two man job. Good idea to pick up a bent box end 15 mm wrench. It is tight getting into the engine mount.

I did it by myself in about 2 hours at work(all 4 mounts, two uppers and two lowers), that was my first time but I had it clear what had to be done. Good job on fixing it though.

Thanks. I guess I forgot to say that there were four missing bolts out of the eight lower engine mount. I made two trips to the store after pulling things apart.
