Which of the LIM bolts need thread sealant?

Would stick to NPT plugs, just saying

its peace of mind in my opinion, I'd be to worried about the stuff coming lose unless you had the ports welded shut.

Hope you notched the end cap area to account for the loss of flow through the top

As for the ports for my top swap. I used the dime mod. You can pound a dime in each and they will seal it up. I also used Jb weld under the dime. For the egr I used either a penny or nickel. I can't remember which.

for the thread sealant, can't I just put red rtv on them?

I'd only use the red RTV if you never plan on removing the bolts ever again. I think that's the RTV that has to be heated a crap ton to break loose, and the LIM isn't something you want to have to superheat. Thread sealer or blue RTV, you can still force the bolts back out with the blue RTV. But the thread sealant will probably do the best long term job sealing those threads.

Definitely make sure if you're blocking the cooling ports, that you remove the end cap on the LIM and dremel/grind away some of the lip in there to increase coolant flow to the rear head, because blocking off those ports will restrict cooling back there. I know it's been said, but it doesn't hurt to restate, so hopefully no one ever forgets to do so. Don't want to chance a cracked head!

You are thinking of red locktight. Red rtv is just high temp silicone. Yes those side ports have been opened so no prob with flow. I have also hear plumbers Teflon tape can be used on the bolts as well.
