So I got a 97 gt with a spun rod bearing.. Only has 150k miles.. I'm pretty sure it's cyclinder 6..

can I just put a new bearing in there? Or is a new motor needed?

new motor. If you just replace the bearing it won't last long.

you could fix it all, but that involves alot of machine work that'll add up really soon... so your best bet is to find another motor... but good luck! 97's are year specific.. Not sure it applies to GT's the same as it did the GTP..

97's 4t60e was year only, but any L36/L26 bottem end will swap right in.

Nothing is year specific to 97 on the motor or trans.. at least not anything that can't be swapped over in under 10 min.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So I got the motor and trans out last night.. I did however drop the subframe.. I kind of feel as if it would had been easier taking it out the top? But anyways it's finally out.. I also pulled the harness.. Was overall an easy job... So far haha

So I've came across a sorta local GP GTP for asking price of 700 car has no motor.. But has 151k miles.. Comes with 2 sets of stock rims, torque stars and the ones on the car.. The motor that was in it comes with it but has a smaller zzp pulley so I'm thinking that's why the motor went out..
