I am just wanting to put rod bearings in a engine and wanted to upgrade to arp bolts but I hear you need to bore your rods as the arp have more clamping force that can distort the rod. Seems a little overkill, if I use plasti gauge and check clearances it seems like that would be good. What do yall think? Im not going to tear engine down just to put arp in.

    No.

The problem is the ARP bolt is larger than stock.

Either you have to machine the face of the rods so the bolt face fits...or run stock bolts.

the face of the rod is not the issue, they make bolts for the 3800 with correct head size. the problem is the arp has more clamping force which can distort the rod
