Hello All, I am wondering if anyone has any information on converting the electrical throttle body in an 08 grand prix to a mechanical throttle body found on earlier versions of the engine, and if it can be done properly at all without screwing up the ECM/PCM?

if you have a 08, it has to stay dbw. probably not worth the trouble if it can even be done.

are you having a problem with the dbw TB or gas pedal?

First issue is CAN based PCM that no one but Overkill has attempted to tune. Your best hope is to contact him and hope he wants to help you.

Well it's become VERY unresponsive to the pedal between 1000 - 2200 rpms. Anything above, and she purrs like a kitten, and it idles perfectly. But in that range, it's become very laggy and performs like crap, it's almost impossible to hold a steady speed in that RPM range.

No Check engine light at all, or pending codes or anything. I have an ABS light and a no T/C light due to a bad ABS harness, but I know that isn't causing anything. I recently changed the Plugs, Wires, All three Coil packs, and the Ignition Control Module. She's got a clean air filter, and I cleaned the MAF and TB already this year. I wanted to include a fuel filter in there, but it's non serviceable.

could be a tps going bad or a the pedal its self is on its way out.

does it do this when driving only? or will it not hold steady rpm's in park if you were to try and hold it at say 2,000 rpm?

what plugs did you use also?

id check the fuel pressure at the rail. maybe a bad fuel pressure regulator? or the pump is going bad.

Fuel Pressure check might be a good start, I'll use the Pressure tester we have at work to take a look at that tomorrow, and yeah, I pulled the TB off, but this was a few months ago.

if the hose on the tester is long enough, drive the car with it hooked up, see if your dropping pressure while driving.
