We purchased a 05 GT that has a starting issue. The car will die immediately after you fire it up. It does this 3-4 times before the car will stay running. I have cleaned the MAF already with no luck and will be checking out the TB this weekend. I was talking to Scottydogs and he thinks it might be the fuel pressure regulator. What do you guys think? What is the part number for the regulator I will be needing if this is the group consensus.

I don't think the 05 cars have a FPR on the fuel rail.

I would check the TB and for any vacuum leaks.

Remove and clean the entire TB. Probably carboned up and gumming something up. Common on the DBW cars.

    I agree with FordMan77.
When I bought my 04 with only 47k, it did the exact same thing. I had to give it a little gas to keep it running during start-up. After removing the throttle body and cleaning it completely, the issue went away for good. Looking at the TB from the outside to 'see if it's dirty' won't do you any good since all the carbon buildup is on the inside of the butterfly valve (the outside will look shiny and new but the inside will be black and goopy.

Open Cone Intake, 180° Tstat, Autolite 605 Coppers, Autolite 7mm wires (will upgrade soon), Muffler delete (headers soon)

The TB was filthy. I cleaned it Friday after work and so far that seemed to correct the issue, but I will keep an eye on it.
