I have a 2002 Grand Prix SE. Everything in the car is stock for now. The engine recently took a dump and I need a car for this summer! I can't get a loan because I don't have enough credit history atm to get a loan myself, and none of my family members want to co-sign. Therefore my only option is to swap an engine into my car. It has the 3.1 but I want to swap a 3.8 in it. I know this is possible, but I have some questions that I need answered if anyone can.
1) What year 3800 Grand Prix engine will be best to swap into my car? I mean which engine mounts the best and all the sensors match up or does it matter? I only have about 2 and a half weeks to get an engine and swap it in. Over the summer I should have a job that pays good enough I can save up 7 - 10k in 2 months or so. Hopefully with any luck.
2) Do I need to swap the computer from the 3800 car into mine? Since my computer is set up for a 3100, I would need to put the 3800 computer into my car as well, right? Or am I wrong?
3) Is there anything else I would need to make this work? Can my transmission handle the 3800 engine?
4) Are there any other requirements in swapping the 3800 into my car? Basically all I'm asking is for all the information/know-how I'll need in completing this project successfully.
I would appreciate it if someone can help me out with the information I need. Thanks

I posted this in the 3.1L section but didn't get hardly any help =/ so I figured I would try it here since more guys have 3.8's I would say =P
