So as typical GPs go I've had the occasional overheat. What I've done so far. T-stat is a year old, fresh UIM and LIM gaskets, elbows, new water pump, ECT sensor, and just got a coolant flush which dramatically helped things. I'm still overheating a touch but only sitting in traffic. I can simply crank the heat full blast and the temp goes back down to normal. I'm guessing its the fans, and from what i've read it looks as though the relays may be bad. I'm about to order some from Rockauto as they're too cheap not to simply swap out. My main issue is that there are 4 pin and 5 pin available. I don't know which ones I need to fit. I haven't gone out and checked them but since I wanted to post my problem anyway I figured I'd ask to see what else can be done for the issue to eliminate any other possibilities, any help would be appreciated.

Also on another note, I have a oil pan leak and being that the SOB is tucked in their so tight i'm figuring on simply tightening down on the bolts I can get too. I realize its not a perfect fix, but wanted to float this idea to see what people thought, or may have had a similar issue.

    Thanks for any help!!

Before you order relays. Diagnose if they are being actuated by the pcm. Diagnose if the relays work on any 12V source. Thises are very simple things to do.

Check out the12volt.com on what relay's do and how they work etc. You will then understand how to test/check them.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So i checked the relays and they were good. I'm still getting an overheat upon idling for long periods of time. How would i go about determining if the PCM is bad or if its sending a bad signal to the fans or fan relays? Could I simply Ohm the fan terminals to see if the fan motors are bad? thanks.
