Ok, I need some advice, insight, and anything else everyone can tell me. I just got a 2005 Grand Prix 3.8 L26 (n/a) engine, and I plan to put it into my 98 Grand Prix GT L36 (n/a). What do I need to buy to perform the swap, can all of my equipment change over from my L36 to the L26, etc. I would like to be prepared before I start tearing into my GT. Thanks.

I would check and see if your l26 has metal LIM gaskets and install some if it doesn't, don't believe GM changed to metal LIM gaskets until 06.
Use your stock 98 wiring harness and you will also need to use the throttle body off your l36 being that the l26 has drive by wire TB.

Other than that, things should go pretty smoothly I am assuming? I am a V8 guy, that just got into V6's now. The Grand Prix, and also a 95' Blazer with the 4.3. Has anyone ever put a Caddy 4.5L in a GP?

Only half of them did, you are lucky if you did get them.

As for the swap, strip the 05 block of almost everything but the heads/timing cover and swap over all brackets and accessories and the L36 top end and it'll drop right in.

And I would never want a caddilac motor in a grand prix, piles of junk. To even think about the swap you gotta know what it takes and would it ever work with the cars engine bay and wiring.

Here ya go, the actual, been there, done it many times list of what you need to swap:

    Rear exhaust manifold
    Alternator bracket
Upper manifold and throttle body or get a TB adapter (ZZP) and use the metal UIM with your TB.
Check the number of prongs on the coolant sensor (while it's out) I forget when that changed over.
If your motor came with the black bracket on the front of the oil pan, then use that for a mount instead of the big horseshoe bracket. It's a much nicer pan and setup.
    Use your AC bracket
Use your trans diff to engine bracket
Use your fuel rails and injectors.

    That's it.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
