Hi, I'm fresh to the forum as well as to domestic cars, driven Nissans my entire life. Girlfriend has a '04 Grand Prix 3.8L N/A with 145K on it and its leaking oil, not a lot but its pretty regular and for the most part out of the blue, as its a new problem. Seems like a LIM issue for sure. I have the gasket, also purchased the 2 coolant elbows.

What I want to know is I've seen a number of DIYs up on this forum as well as others, but I haven't been able to find one specific for the L26 or the 2004-xxxx models years. I've found a few for the L36 or the 1998-2003 GP(I think). What I need assistance with is I just want to make sure if I have an older model DIY, will the job and instructions be enough to get me through a L26 LIM replacement?

I am guessing it would but would greatly appreciate any input as I know how valuable online auto forums can be, thanks in advance.

Yeah..you are totally cool using the L36 one. It's the same thing..just a metal upper intake instead of plastic.

WElcome and if you have any other questions..holler.

PS.. it's likely going to seem really really simple vs anything you've done on the Nissans. It's ancient technology..lol

Oh.. Make sure you have a 3/8" socket on hand. LIM and VC cover bolts are 3/8" not 10mm. A 10mm will round them out when trying to torque most of the time.
