I will be replacing the timing cover gasket soon when I drop the new cam in...I am looking at either the metal gasket from ZZP...or the Fel-Pro from RA....question is...the Fel-Pro says that I MUST use the Fel-pro oil pan gasket as well...true? If so, please explain..thanks all!

You don't need any special oil pan gasket. Are you even doing an oil pan gasket when you do the swap or just pulling the front cover?

I have used both paper and metal gaskets for the timing covers. IIRC Matt identified somewhere which gasket was in which kit. But FelPro has both metal and paper, it depends on which kit you buy.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Thanks Bill..It didn't make sense to me TBH, but then again I haven't done this before.

If you buy a conversion set, it comes with metal.

The big deal is if you have an 06+, it apparently needs special metal gaskets, or at least came with them from the factory. Both water pump and timing cover gasket are metal.

I picked up two timing cover sets recently for a 98. Came with metal timing cover gaskets.
