Okay, so im not some ricer looking to have my car sound loud. But as my grand prix has been sitting for 2 months due to me going on long drives (got my jetta fer that) i now have an exhaust leak from the stoopid resonator Car is coming back on the road within the next two weeks and i wanna fix er up. If i take the cheap route and weld a pipe in place of the resonator does this sound like crap? Need advice.

buy a glass pack and put that in there in place of the res, its the same thing, i used a 32 inch thrush, and the cars nice and quiet. all stock as well, but i wanted quiet.

theres pics somewhere in my sig , i cut the tube off and had a flange welded on the end to fit to the cat piping.

I had the same problem when I bought my car, hole in resonator. I took it the muffler shop and they cut it out and welded in a straight pipe. I also don't like the ricer sound so that was a concern of mine . It's been two yrs since I've had it done and no problems and most important it's not loud at all.

You want some sort of resonator or it will sound worse than it already does.

I can barely tell the difference in mine, every thing is stock on my car except a cone air filter, stock manifold, stock muffler. And my car is far from sounding bad. I equate bad with sounding like a ricer. Does it growl like an 8, hecks no it's a 3800, they have a signature sound. To some that sounds "bad"... Hey to each his own.

If u want to cut the resonator out, I say go for it, its not that big of a diff.

On a bone stock car, no...removing the resonator doesn't make hardly any difference.

But LOL @ when you add headers or different mufflers and you get rasp city.

I deleted mine and put one back in.

It's a worthless removal...do it right and delete the u-bend and then have a glasspack installed at the same time. You'll gain, MPG's/Performance/Sound.

    There, I win.

I specifically said im doing this to save money. I have no interest in gaining, MPG's/Performance/Sound. Thank you though

    Ok, need advice?

It still rasps and still sounds like crap.

glass pack cost 25 bucks, new res 100, you do the math, even after buying a flange and having it welded on and the new gasket and a clamp, i was at 50, vs the walker replacement at 120 or so.

without a res of some sort chances are your car will be louder, and drone.

    mine....

    the walker..

I took my res off when I first got my car cause it was rotted out. It sounded ok until I hit the higher RPM's, then it was RASP city. Now I have new pipe, ubend delete, res and 2 turbo mufflers with NOOOO RASP. Take these guys advice bro, they have been there done that and so have I. I regretted getting rid of the res about a day after having straight pipe welded in which cost me $68. My new exhaust was $300 and totally worth putting the res back on.

My dad had the same problem with his 06 and he replaced it with just a straight pipe. It honestly sounds no different. Everything else is stock.

I say do it and forget about it, cause you certainly won't be reminded of it every time you drive the car.

Its LOUD, really loud. I ran two 12" glasspacks on my Bronco II that I used to have back in the day. You could hear coming from a mile away. You could see my from a mile away too. LOL It was Viper yellow with a 3" lift, 31" tires, push bar, etc. My friends called it the magic schoolbus LOL
