I was thinking about getting the WBS 8 rib balancer? Is this one good?

ok thanks for the input. Reason I asked about the harmonic balancer is because a 40 veteran mechanic builds a lot of motors, he said if the factory balancer is changed it will throw the motor out of balance and cause problems. I was told this so dont get mad at me if I am wrong lol.

if they were externally balanced yes.

The power bond units are for both L36 and L67 bottom ends as per powerbond.

The flex plate is where you might run into problems.

They have different weights on them depending on the rods and pistons used.

So L36 plate on L36 short block, L67 flex on L67 short block.

However you'll find people ignoring that too.

Balance shafts are also specific to the short block. People also commonly disable them with camshaft installs.

    http://www.gmtuners.com/tech/3800_balance.htm

Heres a site that says balancer bad, flex bad.

"The harmonic balancers also have different counterweights between the L36 and L67 so make sure you use the balancer that matches your rotating assembly!" From what this is saying, I would have to change flex plates too, to match the balancer?

No, they need to match your rods and pistons.

So according to that source, you could never top swap, only SSM90.

Back when power bond had a working website, their website listed a long and a short counterweight. Short counterweight went on series I, long on series II.

Kinda different from what everyone else seems to claim, i know.

    http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/...-Balancer.aspx

heres zzp saying it'll fit on L36, L67, L32. no mention of L26 though.

This is what I was going to do:

    Gen v supercharger
zzp ssm90 lim for gen v supercharger
    ssm90 pullies
    belt wrap
    42lbs injectors
    xp cam
    meth kit
    custom tune

Thats what I was going to do to not even worry about the harmonic balancer and so-on, but then the whole intercooler thing came up. I dont know if I will run an intercooler anyway. My goal is to just get 300whp with no knock. Thanks

smallest pulley you will be able to buy from zzp will be a 3.4.

May or may not get you to where you want to be.

uh ha!!! I was looking at some harmonic balancers, the difference between the l32 and l26. The two look identical, except the l32 has more grooves for the other belt. Is this correct? And I emailed zzp asking them about their harmonic balancers for an l26 and they said it should work. Thanks

yes, thats exactly the difference which is what you need. use the L67/L32 setup so you dont have that dumb pulley setup.
