I've been getting a rattling/grating noise during acceleration lately. I don't really know how to describe it other than it sounds vaguely reminiscant of a diesel engine from inside the car, though not as loud. Again, this is only heard occasionally and usually only when accelerating in low gear.

I don't know if this is a trans or motor issue, but it does have me worried because it's the same sound my 3.1 started making when the head gasket went bad - shortly before the car died completely. However that car had a delayed shift to second and I've noticed this car has started to do that as well.

I haven't had any other problems with it, other than it feeling a little underpowered when I first start it up some days. I've checked oil, trans fluid, and coolant and temperatures have not risen over 200. Will be doing a trans filter change soon.

Just for reference, it's completely stock except for an evap and EGR delete. I have a minor exhaust leak in the crossover pipe and I'm pretty sure the cat is bad. I have the forward O2 disconnected for now because it seems to run just a little better that way. Trying to get cash for a high flow cat and some headers.
