I have a 2000 grand prix 3.8 GT with about only 75K on it.

Well today I was driving down the highway picking up speed. As soon as I got to about 40, the car just shut off on me without any warning at all. It ran perfectly fine before that. No power steering, power brakes. The electrical power all works fine, so I ruled out a battery since it was just recently replaced. I also ruled out the fuel pump & filter since the filter was replaced & I'm getting good pressure when I checked.

Now the weird thing is that the car will start, but NOT stay on for more than 2 seconds. Unless I keep my foot on the gas pedal while it's on. It was running horribly like put put put... Also white smoke was coming out of the muffler. Right when I let off the gas, it dies completely.

Also no codes were showing up with my scanner.
and Also I checked the spark plugs, wires, and coil packs. All looked fine and were just recently replaced.

What could be my issue? Is there anything I can check without having to buy new parts before I know what the problem is?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :-)

Try unplugging the MAF sensor and see if it runs better.

And just for the random stall, its possible the crank sensor could be going aswell.

My car does this exact same thing, except after like 30 seconds it will start up and run fine.

Based on what diagnostics? A single stall on a 3800 related to a head gasket?
