    Hey guys,

I've had some kind of alarm going off every once and awhile when I reach highway speeds in my 04 gp. It's basically a constant alarm until I slow down a bit. Nothing shows up on my HUD as it's beeping. I'm sure I'm due for a lim gasket and I've replaced my coolant elbows 3 times since september 2011. Could this be a coolant temp alarm? I have noticed my temp get pretty high at times this summer but when this alarm sounds my temp never appears to be at a dangerous level. Has anyone else ever had this happen in their gp or maybe would know why this alarm goes off while I'm driving?

    Thanks much,
    Matt

I'm having kinda the same problem going on rt now . I got a 04 gp gt1 n/a w /271000 miles .I thought it was the LIM gasket but after changing it I still had the same thing going on. So now I think I'm just gonna do some top end work ( all gaskets. ) and have the heads rebuilt.

Wow lol. That's a lot of work, and a decent amount of money to through at an issue.. U might wana do more research on the issue b4 doing all that. Or even just a have a shop take a look at it first. Just sayin...

And having the heads rebuilt would likely have no affect on this issue.

It's about 90 degrees here in minnesota today. I had my cruise control set at 70 mph on the highway and it would just constantly beep. The temp was at a normal level on the guage, so in an attempt to shut it up I turned my heater on full blast to relieve some heat from the engine and miraculously it stopped beeping. Could this possibly be a bad coolant temp sensor or maybe a bad thermostat?

if the heat did the trick, than it is likely that its overheating, but your temp gauge/sensor isnt giving an accurate reading. you might wana start investigating your cooling system. like is your coolant low, discolored, leaking externally? and definitly check your uim for signs of leaking/cracking.

Bro , I already change everything except the head gaskets. , and I'm sure I over heated the motorwhen I first changed the radiation. Just keep putting it off. And fyi, I do the work on my cars myself. Just cost me parts.

I flushed my radiator and bled the system not too long ago after I put new elbows in and have been watching the coolant levels pretty close ever since. I can see moisture around where the intake manifold gasket is but it doesn't look all that bad imo. Either way my gp has 200k miles and as far as I know the gaskets have never been done. I'm not thrilled about paying $500+ to get it done by a mechanic so it would probably be a good idea to change them myself. How difficult is it to change the gaskets?

Its not that hard with some know how and the right tools.

Taking your time and being carful is all you need to do.

I wish you didn't live like 50 miles away or I'd help ya. I got the whole weekend off.

I had this happen on my 2000 GT today. It due to the trunk not being shut all the way. Every time i hit a bump, the alarm went off as the trunk bounced open.
