my 98 gp n/s wont start after doing alot of work to it. it has fuel and spark, and battery is good. and the intake gets warm to the touch after cranking it. and it sounds like it hesitates a little sometimes when cranking it. thanks

well, the battery is dead, and autozone is closed, so i guess ill have to wait till the morning to see. but my neighbor heard my cranking it(whom was a mechanic of 20 years), and he said he thinks its my timing chain, possibly slack from a bad/worn tensioner. but the motor doesnt really sound any different from my buds 3.8. any thoughts on this?
whats all the work you just did?
popping from the intake is almost always a ignition problem like plug crossed wires.
or bent push rod, less likely, but dont know what you did to the car.
well, my friend owned it for a while, and the head gaskets and uim, and lim gaskets all went seemingly at the same time. so i took it off his hands for a very good price. i replaced head gaskets, head bolts, lim gaskets, uim+gaskets, spark plugs, wires, flushed the coolant, and oil. there is only one notable thing, and that is when i was taking the engine apart, clumsy me forgot to disconnect the battery, and i touched the alt. positive wire, and the block together with a screw driver, and it shot a few sparks. but i checked all the fuses and relays, and a car would start with no alt as long as the battery was good i think.
push rods all lined up nicely, and are in the exact order that the came out, and popping? what would this sound like? cause there was a strange noise occasionally when cranking that sounded like very faint fire crackers. i thought it might have been small backfires. and the uim was the only part that got warm to the touch. not even the exaust manifold got warm.
I have the same problem change the lim gasket on my supercharged engine and now don't want to start it backfires thru the intake I already check the wires and they are correct any other suggestions?
i was never good at spelling Pennsylvanian haha. i live in easton. edit: tried the car, no start.. backfires out of the exaust now instead. it almost started once, after using a little starting fluid very sparingly. i tried unplugging some sensors and stuff, but no dice... and the exaust smells like gasoline, and the oil had some combustion gases in it. any advice?
