Bill, I did the v/c gaskets when I dropped the replacement motor in. I'm sure I have the receipt for the gaskets and grommets somewhere. Guess it couldn't hurt to see what a dealer would say as far as getting $$ back for it. Still have the recall notices. No way in hell they're getting my car, lol... Not sure what my own personal labor is worth to them, probably nothing.
finally managed to have some time to do this..but i'm not sure what to buy; a little help?? am I even looking at the right parts?
Yes, those are the parts u need. It is a very painless installation, except the left dog mount and coil pack/icm have to be removed which is a little annoying
for rear covers the belt tensioner needs to be removed: see coolant elbows.
It's possible to loosen the belt tensioner/alt bracket assembly and slide the cover past it.
scottydoggs, just to be clear, do I use the brake cleaner to clean everything under the cover? any other chemicals that work as well?Quote:

and yes brake cleaner will work just fine for cleaning the inside of the valve cover. engine de greaser also works well.

there were lot of stuff that needs to be moved away from the cover in the back..any tips?

go in i ended up with 4 different recalls on mine. wish my 05 would catch a recall for faulty grounds

Do you have the california emissions? (take a pic of the back cover area so we can see if you do)
Perform more frequent oil changes, your rockers look very dark. Changes will clean that up nicely over time.
Basically you unbolt a few things, they pop out of the way and it's done.
no real tips, just remove whats in the way. just be careful with the vac lines to the sensor back there.

No need to do it more often than that. It sure looks more like 5,000 mile intervals though.

People might shun me for this: but try using pennzoil for a while with short intervals.

If you do use it, shorter intervals would be advised as the oil filter is going to fill up quickly.
