Figured I'd take my 2000 GT to the track to see how it did with just a ZZP tune and an Ebay short ram intake.

    Ran 15.37 @89

Even as it sits I know there's more in it since I'm still running the worn out all season tires that could only manage a 2.21 60'

2.21 60' is about where most FWD's sit. The only way you are going to improve that is with a high stall and slicks.

And honestly, with that trap speed, there isn't much left in your current configuration.

Thats actually a pretty good time for a GT.

Remove headlight, spare tire and wrench tool, take out floor mats, slap some new performance tires up front, run again with 1/4 tank and see if you can pull off a possible 15 flat at 90mph.Not bad though for near stock.

Yup, next I'll try a little weight reduction and get some new tires. We'll see what happens from there.

I'm thinking about the ZZP supercharger kit.....

Thats where the fun starts. That zzp kit is a bit more expensive. Its better to buy top swap hard parts from members and get the gaskets and stuff from zzp or wbody store.

I did a 15.4 at 90 lol that was with a "meh" tune, headers and intake. Cut out open the whole way down the track.

Blah, it's about the driver mod. Sub 1.9's on Bridgestone Potenza's...mid to high 13's with a pulley/rockers/exhaust, all the slicks did was shred muh diff

Top Swap's can be had for cheap if you know where to shop. If you can't find a complete GTP top end for $500~ or less, then you're doing it wrong and need to look harder.

I'll have to do some shopping then

Do you suggest still having ZZP do the tune?

    Thanks,

    Marc,

Depending on where you are at...I honestly never suggest a canned tune, there are plenty of people in the WI area...I'd check Facebook or the Regional Section here for locals. I also suggest a solid "in-car street tune"...running 91 octane, a leaner AFR, and a buttload of ignition timing thrown at it. I ran a 11.8-12:0 AFR...which is a little rich for an N/A car...with 36* WOT timing, running knock free on 91...hell...it didn't even knock on 87 with the U-Bend still in it.

Nosed a supercharged car with an intake/catback from a 20-75~ or so...at that time it was basically stock...intake, ported TB, ported manifolds, 180* T-Stat, Poly Mounts, catback that did nothing, In car tune, DIY HV3 insert...basically no more than a hundred bucks or so spent on it.

If you do get a canned PCM...I'd get a DHP PCM. Best mail order PCM's since the platform came out. You can get one at 3800 Performance - high performance aftermarket car parts for your Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, Impala, Regal, Bonneville, and V6 F-body!!
