I got our coolant elbows fixed yesterday and today we need some more coolant. Since the guy did not put enough. The coolant he put in our car is a gold coolant for what I think is for ford cars. It's it ok to mix with prestone coolant green/ yellow 50/50.

If he flushed it already and put yellow in there, thats fine, its a all makes all model coolant, just toss some more yellow or green in there. Dont buy that 50/50 junk, its water really, get a full thing of conetrate and mix it yourself.

its 50% coolant and 50% water.

Which is what it should be for most climates.

Well we got the 50 50 and put it in, its like a light yellowish greenish color and just put some in the reservoir is it ok? we kinda dont want to waste time mixing it, just pour it and thats it and done and yes it was flush and the guy put a gold one in there which i think is for fords lol

i don't get why people by 50/50. Buy 100% and you get 2 gallons of coolant instead of 1.

I usually keep an empty coolant bottle around. Then when I get a new gallon, I pour half in the empty and keep half in the new one. Then fill them both w/ water and wallah! 2 gallons of 50/50.

    ill keep that in mind.

One last ? i think, are reservoir went empty like 3 times when we checked it and nothing happened, so we filled it up and then it stay where its at like right on that line. Then i found out it all does go into the engine and will show the reservoir being empty, but now it shows it being at the line so is it ok? Like it wont add pressure to anything or break anything for having a little bit more in there. its at the line but i know it should go up when cooling.

The resivoir can be filled past the line to a point and no worries. I did this when I had a coolant elbow leaking and couldn't get to it right away. No, it won't add pressure to the system. The rad cap is what holds the pressure in the system. If it gets too hot the cap will open and allow the coolant to flow out of the rad. and into the resivoir.

Luckily I do all my own work, normally. Hernia surgery a few weeks back has all my repairs on hold unfortunately. Can't really bend over the fender long enough to change them out properly. Hope to god they hold a little longer, lol.. My spare car is still in the garage with her butt in the air and fuel tank on the ground. Hopefully no one has seen Murphy around.

lol, i wish we can work on our car. We need a whole lift and money so we could work on our car, we could do so many things with the car lifted. Good luck with you car bro.

truth is, you dont NEED a lift. anything that you can do on a lift can be done with jack stands. when bill did my tans swap, the old one was out in 1.5 hours, not kidding. working on the floor.

granted a lift will spoil you.
