Working under the hood again and I noticed a problem with one of the fuel lines:

If I nudge it even slightly towards the UIM it sprays a stream of gas. This seems dangerous, especially with all the electronics surrounding it. I'm thinking I may have knocked it loose, but I can't seem to get it any more secure. Is this normal?

    no.

Struggle for a while to replace o-rings inside the black piece, or buy a replacement connector from a parts store and press it on or get the clamp style.

    What matt said^^^

Go to the parts store and get a quick connect fix kit. Word of advise, don't mess with the barbs in the kit to connect the old and new lines. Just buy a compression union for nylon-nylon lines. It won't leak, every time I used the barbed connectors... They leaked.

So it just presses on? I didn't see any o rings. Is there a way to cut the gas feed so I can fix it without spraying gasoline all over the engine?

    yes.

remove fuel pump relay. then start the car.

when it dies, try turning it over for 5 seconds.

    Will be lacking pressure.

Will still have fuel in it.

The barbed fittings need to be pressed in.

There is a new "easy style" fuel line repair line of products out there.

they simply slide into the existing nylon lines, then are clamped.

Well, I got a quick connect kit from Autozone, it was all they had. Looks just like the old one, with a metal tube to connect the old and new lines. Is there a way to keep it from leaking, or should I shop around for one of the clamp styles?

the tube youre referring to is the barbed connector. each time i used a barb, it leaked on either the old line or the new. i bought a compression fitting and used that instead.

    looks like this

So just grab one of those and use it instead of the barbed connector? Okay.
