I would do what Scotty said and try it with the heat shields removed.
Isn't it plastic? Should sort itself out lol...
My 03 Regal had the SD headers hit the drivers side fan. It was actually resting on it. I let it go for 2 years and never really had an issue until I heard the fan cut in and out when I shut the car off. Pop the hood and look and there are sparks coming from the drivers side fan motor (where the header was hitting).
I ended up having to find a set of '98 fans from a Regal and they gave me an extra inch of clearance. Apparently the 01+ Regals had a larger fan/shroud.

Same issue on 01 impala. I took shroud off. Header still hits fan, so I put some of that sticky backed aluminum heat wrap stuff on it. Dunno what its called but I love the stuff. Buddy gave it to me when a heat shield fell off my Sienna and the fan was melting. I used it in several places. Wrapped a little around the ect gauge. Stuffed and sealed a hole I drilled above exhaust to run my o2 sensor through. Some other places I can't remember.
Just as the posts above, I also had to remove the fan heat shield off of my 04 Impala LS. Header sits pretty close to the plastic fan, no issues so far. The foil tape is a good idea though, I should try that.
I have the same issue.. Wrapped the headers with header wrap and its hitting the fan.. Dont wanna trim the fan with the die grinder so i probably need to get something in between the fan and the header
This issue is only with SD headers?

looks like the fan itself is getting hit. time for a pair of 98 fans, or maybe some low profile after market fans. they work better, but are a bit louder.
iirc i had pro comp fans on my last truck, 2, 16's was like 30 bucks. you'll need 2 smaller fans for sure.
ugh i dont want to do that....fak! lol
I have some poly bushings on the way maybe it will pull the motor/headers back away form the fan, if the stock bushings are stock.
if you were to get the after market fans, they plug right in pretty much and mount up easy enough. if they dont plug in all you do is cut and solder the old fans plug on the new fans.
