Everyone says they have cracked heads on their 3800s. Do you have pics of how bad your cracks are?

If you're doing gaskets, why did you take your heads somewhere?

N/A heads are only interchangable with N/A heads.

Overheating doesn't cause hydrolock, coolant in the motor does. Hydrolock is in the block, not the heads... Hydrolock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I had a crack in my head on my N/A 3800 Series II motor in my Crapmaro! It was located in the intake runner for cylinder 2. I assumed this was my only issue with the motor along with a "sticky lifter". I found a set of used heads since there are a lot of them out there and just swapped the old ones out along with new lifters. My mistake was assuming that was my only problem with the motor.

I realized after I installed the new heads and lifters that the block was overheated due to no coolant. Seems the LIM gaskets were bad enough to cause coolant to leak into the block, which resulted in a spun main bearing and the overheating issue which cracked the head! I was not as knowledgeable as I am now about the motors. Now when I take them apart I dont assume its one thing that caused any issue, I assume the worst and go from there.

I also love it when people dont perform preventative maintanence on their vehicles. One mans trash is another mans grocery getter!
