I am new at modding my car I guess you can say and I am looking to finally do a mod on the easy side and basically just want to make sure the part fits. So I was browsing for a legit K&N Air filter for my 2000 grand prix GT and the cheapest price I could find was the link below, it is labeled for a different car but if you look below the product information it says it fits my car, just curious if anyone can confirm or not if this is true would rather not blow 200$ on an item that is going to be of no use to me. Thanks for any input or help that you can provide.

have all ready looking into making my own but my dad isnt too handy so we dont have many tools around the house and the main problem is i dont have a drill to make a hole in the tube for the sensor.

you don't need the sensor in the tube. you can just leave it hangin in there and nothing happens.

Matt, you can make your own. If you can spend 200 on a K&N then you can buy the stuff needed to make your own, tools included. You are really wasting your money buying a K&N.

lmao i just used a knife, sat down turn on the tv and twirled a knife in circles for hours untill i had a perfect circle for the sensor, dont need tools just need some sharp objects lols.
if you want to make it even easier on your self just cut the accordian tubing off, then all you need is some tubing and a filter.
not hard at all, save that $200 for mods that willl acutaully give you power, like headers or sometin.

You can take the part that you need to make the hole to somebody that has a drill or just buy a drill, they are not expensive. They can be used for other projects in the future, like hanging pictures and shelves for example.

All harassment aside, we pretty much try to pressure everyone into sticking a $20 9" cone filter on their intake. We're equal opportunity jerks. But it's seriously easy and I promise it'll feel rewarding to save $150 to put into gas, as well as work with your own hands. Those of us that aren't mechanics have all been there. With a little time, a little research, and the purchase of a couple tools (Harbor Freight or Sears are your cheap/easy options) ought to get you going. Do some searching and lots of reading.

That being said, there's nothing actually wrong with the K&N CAI Box - it's just not worth the money they charge. The HP difference provided by that piece of plastic is negligible (about 1hp or so). The filter is worth $45 new (meaning that piece of plastic is $155!), but nobody likes washing and re-oiling those filters and the oil gets all over the mass airflow sensor so you have to keep cleaning that ($12/can MAF sensor cleaner). $20 dry-flow filters please pretty much all of us.
