I have the oppurtunity to purchase a set of completely rebuilt 3.8l heads off an 1988 FWD buick. Anyone know if these heads are interchangeable?

Since this was posted... are there any heads that are better for our cars that came stock on other vehicles? Or are they pretty much all the same stockers on series 2, series 3, etc?

    No.

Series II and III are different slightly.

Slightly different valves in series III, same poor casting and poorer quality control.

Actually, L26 heads are supposed to flow the best out of the entire bunch...being 36/67/32/26

So...if you find some series III L26 heads...get them...have them rebuilt, cleaned up...and ported...and toss them on with some headers if your looking for 20+ WHP gains.

That hurt my head even reading that.

Just because two manufacturers make an engine with the same designation of liters doesn't mean the engines are even close to the same.

And Ford 3.8 heads are absolute GARBAGE.
