    symptoms.

    1. car starts if fuel pump primes. (1 or 2 turn of key without car starting)
    2. car runs for only 10-20 seconds.
    3. tons of burnt fuel from exhaust. (grey smoke)
    4. temp has no effect on this.(cold or hot)
    5. when started engine idles very rough and shut down.
6 Also, traction control system will say it needs service and "engine power has been reduced".

Hopefully this will help out some people.

Gasket's on pcv AND MAP sensor. (the MAP sits on top of pcv valve)

My 04 does this same thing. I will fire it up and it sounds as if it wants to die then its just picks up and runs fine or dies and ill have to give it some gas to get her to start no ideas what it may be....not sure if yours acts the same as mine but my cold starts fine it only does it after i have driven it for a few hours then get start it again.

Try unplugging the maf and when you start the car the first couple times..expect you may have to use some throttle and you'll have to keep it running for a min.

After 2-3 start ups.. likely it'll start on its own. Does it still stall/try to or act goofy still?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

K i unplugged it tried starting on its own nothing. used gas pedal it started and i let it run on its own. stayed running for about 10 seconds and than brought the rpm up to about 2500 and died. i smelled gas after it did this time. i started it again and nothing not even gas got it to run.

K if i prime the fuel pump 3 times it will start on its own and run for 10 seconds. also the pedal as no affect on anything if i push it down nothing happens. fuel filter? okay after playing with it for a while i hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and its at 55-60psi and i got the car to run for about a min than a bunch of white smoke came out. so now im thinking timing is off

sigh.. i finally found it after 4 days but i just bought the car 2 weeks ago.

first was no casket on the pcv valve when someone replaced it.
second there was no casket on the MAP SENSOR so intake vacuum was just suckin in air

so fyi gasket on pcv and map sensor that goes into the casing above the pcv valve.
