Hey guys my girlfriend has been complaining that the temps on her car have been runnig a littl high. She has a 97 3.8

I changed the thermostat to a 180 and seemed to have bled all the air out. Still wants to climb to 210ish

Fans seem like there coming on. Anything to check for?

Also whats a failsafe way to make sure all the air is out of the system? Thanks!

as long as it drops back down after reaching just over 210 (when the tstat opens and a 195 tstat) then it should be good. if its highway driving and getting that high, i would be a little more suspisous. when you bleed the system, wait until the tstat just opens, then bleed it. the 180 tstat is hurting performace more than anything ( not gonna kill the car or anything like that with the 180)

^^This^^. Put in a new 195. Then bleed the system again. Then again. Then again, lol... Yes, these cars can be a PITA to bleed.

Also, if you don't know don't mix the orange Dexcool w/ regular green coolant when you are refilling. Makes a mess of the cooling system and will cause issues.

Factory temp setting for the fans are 216F low speed and 228F high speed turn on.

    Seems to be working normal.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

correct me if im wrong but isnt open loop alot lower than 180 degrees? As long as the cars out of open loop the tune shouldnt matter on an n/a car right?

Anywho I re bleed it a little more air came out seems to be hanging out around 190ish area

the fans arent reprogrammed to turn on at lower temperatures, thus not taking advantage of the lower temperature thermostat. the 'tune' isnt effected, per say, but the thermostat isnt being used effectively because of the fan turn on temperatures.

as i said, just put the stock thermostat in and leave it be.
