I remember seeing something about replacing Dexcool with regular green coolant, I'll be flushing my rad soon and wondered what the reasoning of not using Dexcool was.

If you dont change the Dexcool if it meets air it likes to sludge up into Brown crap.
Dexcool has a maintenance schedule like all coolants. Most people don't maintain it within the factory guidelines. If air gets into dex it'll turn oatmeal like.
I'd suggest replacing with an AnyColor coolant. That way if a little Dex is in the block or anything you won't have coolant compatibility brown as a new coolant color.
