    car sounds great fireprix!
My 0-60mph: was on a road that had a light incline at the top of 1st gear-start of 2nd gear, started 30% throttle till stopped spinning then punched it, If i launched it harder I could of done better.. I think.. lol if you turn up your speakers after in initial lil burnout you can still her my tires trying to break loose lol.

    3.05? We have 3.29
Does removing the spare count as weight reduction?

Not all of em, Checked the RPO code and I have 3.05, 97-03 have 3.29. May wanna check yours too to be sure. The code sheet is on the trunk lid. F83 is the code for 3.05.

    The tach's are off.

My car idles at 900 in the silver car and 625 in the blue one.

Silver car's tach always shows a tad over 1K and the blue one always looks like it is around 700-800.

i have 3.73 gears in my DOHC monte with the 4t60e. the ratios in the 60e's are diff then the 65's....

my around town MPG actually went up! because i can be in 4th gear much sooner but i lost about 3 mpg on highway.

i can be at 40mph and get 30-35 mpg. highway at 70 its about 25 mpg
before i did the swap it had the stock 3.43 gears. and i know i was getting about 28 mpg on highway.

i still average about 18 mpg on a tank. which isnt bad for a car with 220k miles... stock it is listed at 17/25 for city/hw mpg

PS: the DOHC doesnt have much Tq so the 3.73's help in that aspect. it will match a stock GTP off the line and once at 4300 rpm it starts to pull and by 5200 (its peak HP) it will pull like a l67 with a 3.4pulley until its shift point which are 500-700 rpm higher then the l67.

its just a shame parts are becoming more and more scarse for this engine and aftermarket never happened. for the price of a rebuild i could get a low miles L32... that is why Engine trany swap is in its future.

Is that according to the HUD or the speedo? I was looking at my HUD.

Following for N/A 3800s to help clear any confusion:
97-03 GPs have 3.29 Final Drive (3.29 diff, 35/35 gears)
    04-08 GPs have 3.05 FD(3.05 diff, 35/35 gears)
    00-05 Impalas have 3.05 FD (3.05 diff, 35/35 gears)
00-05 Monte Carlos have 3.29 FD (3.29 diff, 35/35 gears)

    Other:
    00-05 Impala/Monte 3400s have 2.86 FD (2.86 diff, 35/35 gears)
    06+ Impala/Monte 3500s have 2.86 FD (2.86 diff, 35/35 gears)
    06+ Impala/Monte 3900s have 3.29 FD (3.29, 35/35 gears)

    3.29s hit 6000rpm in 1st gear around 45mph, 3.05s do it around 50mph, 2.86s around 55mph.
