I have a 2004 GP GT2 with the 3.8 Series 3 engine..the car is bone stock and only has 60,000 miles on it.
I purchased the car with 38000 miles on it in near perfect condition and since I've owned it Its always garage kept and well maintained, I was a Chrysler Tech for many years and this is my first GM product.
I change the oil every 3000 miles and use 5W30 along with Lucas Oil Stablizer and an AC Delco filter...anyway the car developed what sounds like a lifter tick and a pretty good miss at idle and when at a stop light. The noise goes away within a few minutes and the miss is now intermittent.
Upon hooking my scanner up it told me it was a cylinder 3 misfire..new plugs and wires..still there, changed coil pack..still there.
Pulled the valve cover and everything looked good..decided since I was in there to check the push rods..replaced them all for the hell of it even though the old ones were straight and open.
I ran it for about 75 miles with with a quart of ATF in the oil then drained and did another oil change..noise is MUCH better but still get intermittent miss.
Forgot to mention..also tried MMO..Sea Foam in gas, oil, and through the brake booster vac line.
Next code I got was random misfire..the car runs absolutely fantastic but still has this intermittent miss, I have no experience with these motors and am looking for help/suggestions from anyone who can offer one.
Thanks in advance to any and all of you for reading this post..
