QFTLNF should be in the Cruze...6spd only...badged an SS.
/end.
Sales would have been way better IMO.
Nao git outta my head!
Really?
Because sales say otherwise....
Sales are good, no doubt. And a Cruise Eco would be really nice... But if you keep your foot out of it, a powerful motor is efficient.
And after killing Pontiac, Saturn, and to a lesser extent Olds, they need to inject some performance into the whole lineup. Not just the Camaro and Corvette. Buick and Cadillac are upscale brands, so even though they do have performance models, they tend to be out of reach for younger buyers. And late-model Saturns were good looking, sporty, cheap cars; a youth brand. Pontiac was the next-level-up youth division as well as the principal performance devision, and even a legacy brand. I personally think the Aura and Sky are better looking cars than any of their platform-mates too... It really is no wonder so many people are jumping ship from GM. Sacrificing the domestic market in favor of the global one isn't appealing to me.
Havent found numbers on the TC models yet.Out of a total of 421,610 Cobalts produced from 2004-2006, 3.5% were SS/SCs and 4.7% were SS coupes and sedans. The other 91.8% are 2.2s! (I had been guessing there might be maybe 5% 2.0s and 5% 2.4s).
8% seems about right.
3.5% were supercharged.
4.7% were 2.4's.
Performance models are not ever going to be the lion's share of total volume sales. But what are the statistics on who buys a different make/model/company's product because of the lack of a desirable trim level or option package?
For example, let's say I would love an AWD 250hp Turbo 2.0 in a small hatch. I can't get one from GM, so i buy a GTI. That kinda thing.
If they sold more, they'd make more.
The only one of these newer models that is gonna be anything fun is the XTS. Hell, you can put 2 more cylinders on it, but an Ecotec is an Ecotec is an Ecotec.......
i take you don't read comments on news sites regarding GM's financial status....
They're all about quality.
Not the lack of wrong wheel drive, overpowered cars with obnoxious torque steer, lack of a useful rear seat, and looks of a hot wheels car.
I think you misunderstood me.
I was stating that, in my opinion, GM let go of some brands that had good things to offer. I agree that they had to trim some fat, and also that the brands retained were valuable, however, I also stated which brands I think still held promise.
I was also stating that there was nothing wrong with the old 2.0 turbo Ecotec engine package, and I don't understand why they would redevelop an almost identical engine package in order to meet ever-tightening emissions standards, when it seems logical that it would have been less expensive to tweak the old version.
I'm talking about putting a venerable, easily interchangeable 2.0T into the cruise, stiffening suspension, adding alloy wheels, and then marketing it as an SS. This because there is currently no performance oriented anything in the entire Chevrolet lineup that is smaller than the Camaro. It would appeal a part of the market they're currently missing out on; youth/entry-level buyers who seek performance.
I'm not saying GM should focus resources toward performance and away from quality at all. I've been very impressed with their improved image due to that quality. What I'm saying is that they have the opportunity to do both.
