I just did a successful replacement of the LIM gaskets and UIM. After 3 days (and only about 15 miles of driving) everything is still sealed up tightly. No leaks I can see. Also she's running much much cooler, doesn't have a poor idle anymore, and overall she just sounds like a way happier engine.

I've got a question about the residual gunk that is now working itself out of the cooling system. You can see in this pic below that after pulling the lower radiator hose and taking the LIM off, we found that each water jacket seemed to have different things going on. Luckily all this crap seems to be floating right to the radiator cap in small amounts where I easily scoop it right out. Just wondering if there are any extra precautions I should take to get this crap out. I've bled it at least once a day since the job. I didn't have a garden hose to flush with unfortunately. At the moment though, definitely looks like about a teaspoon full of peanut butter backing up at the cap.
