My starter had a flat spot recently so i replaced it with a brand new starter and it worked great for a week. Today i go to start my car and bam, same thing happened when i discovered the flat spot. i noticed a bolt on starter was a little lose so i tightened it and knocked it into neutrul and it started with no problem. it still is starting great now. any ideas on whats the problem? its a 2000 grand prix se

When you say flat spot, what do you mean?

Do you mean the starter spins up w/o catching the flywheel?
Do you mean that loose bolt let the starter hang down and maybe twist or something odd?

I'd tighten the bolts like a man, then see if the problem ever comes back.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
