I think this is the right section...atleast its the closest i could find

as most of you know, i have a 04 monte carlo ss refer to my sig for the mods (pathetic ik...)

one of my next few major mods is going to be exhaust, for the simple reason that i am a 16 year old kid that wants a semi-loud car...

im thinking to achieve this i can straight pipe from the converter (i will put in a u bend delete pipe) with 3 inch stainless steel piping...basically i need to know what it would sound like, i know this would look awesome so i dont need pictures really.

Im going to be browsing youtube for cars with this engine that have this setup...

if i dont like the sound, i will test the sounds that any of you sugest...keep in mind i am looking to do a sort of custom thing, without buying a whole new exhaust system...

1 question, what down pipe does my car have? should i buy a new down pipe also?

opinions please, but honestly, dont spam about how bad you think straight piping sounds...thank you

buy a 2.5in downpipe and replace the resonator with a cherry bomb, and then run magnoflow or dynomax muffflers.

you will hate straight pipes if you go on the freeway at all.

also if you have a loud car you should have the motor to back it up

straight piping is going to sound like crap. dont do it.

just switch the mufflers with something else.

honestly...i can handle the drone easily, the first weekend my dad bought the camaro we drove to chicago and i sat in the back the whole way...droneeeeeeeee...i liked it haha

will a 3 inch downpipe fit?
also, i dont wanna do new mufflers, they are overly expensive, i want to straight pipe trust me...i know what it sounds like i love it...

you can do a 3", it still bolts in if you buy the right one.

however, if you 'love' straight piped 3800 then you don't know what sounds good.

i am not doin a ricer here lol...nor a fart can

im simply making my car sound better imo

so, ill need a 3 inch downpipe, 3 inch u bend delete pipe
i assume id have to go to the exhaust shop and tell them what i want
also...after listening to a few youtube videos, i will keep it resonated...not gonna get a high flow cat though...

what resonator would make it more tame?

youre not even taking our suggestions, so why even ask?

do what you want and straight pipe it. ill ask you to rev it for me at the meet and tell you exactly why i hate it.

mufflers keep the car sounding mellow and smooth. with no mufflers you get all of the junky 3800 sound because there is nothing to filter that, resonated/catted or not.

? thatd be awesome...but not for $200 lol

would it be stupid to get a 3 inch dp? would it just be bragging rights? or would it actually make it flow better?

but i dont want mellow lol...smooth is not necessary

the right resonator can do the trick with it though

i dont recommend a 2.5" downpipe to my enemies. 3" downpipe or bust, regardless of the setup.
