Hello all,
I recently swapped the engune once again in my 97 gp gt, and unlike last tine, i am experiencing a number of problems. The frst noticeable problem is that it does not shift out of park, and the gear indicator light is not on (somedays it will flicker and stay on for a few minutes and i am able to shift during this time) the second problem i am having is that my cooling fans are not turning on, yet all guses and relays are good. The fans run when connected to 12v. The third and most frustrating problem is a few days after the swap i washed the engine bay out with a pressure washer. Since then it will intermittently run very rough, bouncing between 300 and 1100 rpm, and occassionally stall( seems to be happening more often). I have an open cone filter and figured at first that water must have got into it and causing to run rough and hesitate when the throttle is opened. But its been a few days and it still does this. Sometimes i have to put my foot on the gas while braking to prevent it from stalling at low speeds. Sometimes it will drive perfectly normal, then this will occur. During the whole period this occurs, i can hear the engine sucking in a very large, steady ammount of air, and then the sucking of the air stops and the engine returns to normal conditions. It did throw a P1441 code, but i have checked the EVAP system and vacuum lines for leaks. The throttle body, upper intake manifold, wire harnesses, and alternator are off of the old engine, and i did not experience this problem on the old engine.
Would a faulty coolant temperature sensor explain both the rad fans and the intermittent rough running? I made sure there were no loose connections on all harnesses.
