    I have a 2000 grand prix se w/3800 i had the low oil level light come on about a month ago and the day b4 it was on i checked the oil fine... but it was between full and empty on the dipstick then i put oil in it was perfectly fine until today i just started it and it idled really wierd spiked to about 2k when it usually goes to about 1.5k then goes down well it keeped going up and down between 1 and 2k... and i thought great checked the oil and low again.. Well i took that damn plastic cover off and found oil by the intake manifold so could that be leaking and if so how much problem is the gonna give me if i dnt fix soon what will happen.. im only 17 and need to pay car insurance my next check then i can fix it after that anyother possibilities where my oil could be going.. (not leaking underneath and not burning)

    Well, if you found oil on the lower intake manifold then that would suggest valve cover gaskets. Let me guess, the front one?

    Known issue with these. Just grab some new FelPro gaskets from Oreillys or the like, and also get the GROMMETS for the bolts. Front is easy, back can be tricky. All in all neither are too hard to get out. If you want an easier time getting to the back one then remove the 2 front dogbone mounts and rock the car forward while in Park, the motor should shift forward towards the rad. a bit.

    The bouncing idle sounds like you may have a vacuum leak somewhere. Spray some carb cleaner around all your vac. fittings and along where the UIM meets the LIM and see if the idle changes.

    Well found the leak it was the valve cover and the vacuum leak is only when the vavle cover leaks when below freezing temps is only time gives me issues but fixed now hopefully stays good
