ok this may sound crazy but i was wondering if it would be possible to swap the series 2 3800 l36 thats in my 02 gp anni for a series 3 3800.

the previous owner of the car let the original motor lock up so i am currently driving an 02 anni with the engine out of a 97.

or would it be better to just swap in an l67 and call it a day?

they are nearly identical motors. the only benefit is that you'd get a genV blower on the L32.

You would have to swap over your upper plenum and throttle body other than that its bolt in. L67 needs the engine wiring harness and a custom tune for your transmission gearing.

so the series 3 is a bolt in? how much more power/fuel mileage is there? or are you talking about the l67? i want something newer and didn't know if there were any power/fuel mileage advantages.

and i go to school with a lot of gm-donated cars, one being a lucerne with a series 3. it looks like it has different motor mount bosses but i can't really tell.

There's no real benefit and it complicates something that doesn't need to be complicated. If anything I'd do an L67 swap and call it a day.

i want some simple power enhancements, and from an engine that i can depend on. i might just yank the current motor and rebuild it nicely. haven't decided yet.

Which is why we are suggesting a L67...and not an L32. He HAS an L36 and is wanting to upgrade. Suggesting the L67 because it is an easier swap wiring wise.
