So there I was--- driving all day back and forth to the storage unit. No problems. Then upon trying to leave the unit--- my 04 gt2 acted like it was gonna start...kinda fired, then bogged out and died. Small amounts of smoke came up and the engine won't turn over at all. Its like it tries, like a half a turn before stopping, almost like a dead battery, but a jump provided nothing---almost smelt electrical. Any ideas?

I don't know if this is the same thing, but mine kinda had the same problem. I would try to start it, and it would fire up for a split second and then just die. I ended up buying some throttle body cleaner, cleaning the throttle body (pitch black sh*t came out for about 10 minutes), and she's been firing up like a dream ever since. Give it a shot!!

before you get too far, can you turn the engine over by hand? put a ratchet on the nut on the harmonic balancer and see if she spins over.

I would second this, and then if it does spin without grinding away at bearings and stuff I would check the starter, and the cableing, battery down.

ignition control module might of taken a crap...take it to autozone have them test it. but first check to see if you can manually turn the motor with a rachet if you cant then u have a more serious problem...

if it sounds like its struggling it sounds like it could be the starter, given nothing else major as stated above
