Alright so Ive decided that the next direction I want to go with modding my car is exhaust and some suspension stuff because Ive come to realize that yeah you can make this thing fast but its just to expensive to get real results so I want to make it sond good, drive good, and look good, but I have no Idea what to do for the exhaust I have the front part figured out though already have a zzp downpipe and about to get a power log, ported rear manifold, and cross over pipe all ceramic coated excluding the downpipe of course any ideas what I should do for the rest?

my setup will/is pretty similar.I dont have downpipe or plog yet but real soon.Id say glasspack or aftermarket resonator then some nice mufflers. After that your car should sound a lot better.

Honestly.. I would just get headers. It would be cheaper and probably much better. I was thinking about getting a plog, but that is only because I'm too lazy to pull off the rear mani. If you are willing to do that you for sure should get headers. As I said, they will be Cheaper!

As for exhaust.. I'd keep it really mild. Do some research on some good mufflers, replace the stock res with a glasspack and call it a day. These engines sound like crap.

the reason Im going with power log and what not is because I already have a downpipe on the car plus no loss in low end torqe im thinking i might just bite the bullet and get a borlla system for the back idk

Do you notice better soundand performance with the downpipe? and what would you reccommend to remove the upper bolts on the downpipe?

true test of how a motor sounds is running it with open headers......

and this engine fails that test miserably.

exhaust definitely got louder and i do notice a little extra pull on the top end, as for those bolts i used a half inch ratchet with a few extensions

is a resonator the same thing as a glass pack. cause magnaflow has resonators. and glass packs .can thay replase the mufflers. what would sound better.

put a glass pack (biggest one you can fit) in place of the resonator then look for a "turbo" style muffler.

By turbo style muffler i mean something that is based on a stock design yet more "performance" orientated.

Agreed....That's my setup and I like it....I wasn't throwing big money into an exhaust, I would rather put the money where it counts (motor) so I went the cheap route with Thrush glasspack ($20) and Thrush Turbo mufflers ($30 a piece)

I just completed my system, took off the res and went with flomasters...als0 changed the pipe to 2.5 stainless... sounds great at idle and take off and when passing but nice sound at cruzing speeds...I hate the harmonics of some systems at 2200 rpms..

Agreed, big difference from 5.3 liters and 8 cylinders vs. 3.8 liters and 6 cylinders.

Only bad thing that I found is that when I got a new muffler on my car that the drone increased greatly but has a nice deep rumble. Just something to keep in mind.

larger diameter and longer resonator would help with that.

Exhaust work should be headers, deleting the converter...and some sort of a resonator. That's it.
