How much of a difference does the HV3 make? and what does it do to gas mileage?
|
It makes your car slower if it's not tuned. My 1/8th mile times dropped about .3-.5 after I installed mine and didn't tune for it. That being said, without a tune the higher RPM range will still see gains. I noticed a slight increase in my MPGs after install.
Its definately worth it if you know someone who can tune your car for you or if you are planning on buying a "canned tune"
That being said, a topswap will net gains much larger than an HV3 could.
Yea great that you asked,i just installed mine a few days ago and initially all i noticed was sound.Engine sounded a bit better. Then my midrange and top end is what I noticed too.And honestly I dont notice no lose of low end.It has some decent power now.
I’ve had an HV3 installed for over a year now and the biggest change is a lot more power for passing on the highway. I also did notice a slight loss in the low end power, but I actually count that as a positive. With street tires it was hard enough keeping traction on a hard launch as it stood stock. As far as mpgs, mine stayed the same. All in all, I’d do it again. One tip for you, change your fuel injector O-rings at the same time.![]()
Thats something i forgot to do.But all my o-rings looked fresh except one only cuz last year i had my upper intake replaced and that was done. Can I get away with one faulty o-ring?ill do it later maybe lol
You have traction problems with an N/A 3800 from a dig?
Internet sarcasm is FTL...sh1t...didn't use the hamburger.
Sarcasm? If you're refering to my previous statement, it wasn't sarcastic at all. I don't have huge traction loss, but I can spin my tires for a few seconds on a launch.
even before my cam, hv3 and all that stuff yeah the l36 isnt the same power monster the 67 is but it loves to atlest one of the tires all down low
as for the question about the hv3 idk cause I had a cam installed and a tune done at the same time so idk if you wana hear what it sounds like

Idk how your 1/8 mile time went down spade...there has to be something else that affected it for it to drop that much. my butt dyno felt the top end a lot more, id recommend for someone who doesnt have a grand to drop on a top swap.
and you cant use L32 heads unless you are doing the whole top swap.
