I've looked but have not found a clear procedure for removing the rear knock sensor. Anyone have some suggestions to make it easier to do? That bugger is real PIA to get to and I've yet to figure out how to get to it without removing half the engine.

Never tried doing one in the car, but would disconnecting the dogbones and rocking the motor forward help at all? Maybe disconnect the exhaust at the rear manifold and then go from under the car up over the trans to get to it?

Either that or snake an extension or 2 through between the trans housing and the pan and use a swivel at the end to get on it. Question is have you even removed the electrical connection to it?

I meant that to be part of the answer. They made that thing so hard to get to.

I have a shop manual at home for the GP. I can take a look in there tonight and see what they suggest.

It's a bit of magic that I haven't had to do yet. Bigger problem is how do you torque the new one to 14ft lbs to keep the sensitivty correct?

If you don't mind my asking.. why are you pulling it?

For ....what purpose? Pulling the front will give you most of it. Honestly not being able to torque it and having potential leak or KR issue later isn't worthwhile from first look in my eyes.

TMK there is no easy way. Only easy time is when the motor or trans is out.

went ot a shop they said they have to remove the trans. ive replaced mine you need a 12" extension, and the right size crows foot that is made for pipe fittings. standard ones wont work because it want fit up there and turn. and i torqued mine the best i could by feel.
