Anyone know the best place to get a decent one? Google search has found none for a 2001 GT.

I was wondering the same, I've got a pretty big system and sick of my voltage drops at high SPL levels.

Yeah I've been looking for some too, I think I will need one in the not so distant future and I would like to get a H/O one. I've heard Mechman Alts. are good and here is one for the 3800.

I've heard Mechman, just never found a page for them. May have to invest that...I wonder if they take discounts if you send in your stock alt.

The 9c1 impala's came with a 125 amp alternator. Grand prixs came with either a 105 or the 125 amp alt's.

Stock W bodies got a 105amp from everything I've found.
    Stock Bonneville SSEi's got 125amp
Stock PA Ultras got 125amp (or maybe higher)

I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Y'all may want to look around for Iraggi HO Alternators and Ohio Generators. Both make alternators for the 3.8L and both are expensive. I believe the Iraggi HO is rated for 14.7v @ idle. The Ohio HO, the one I own, is a bit less at idle.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Iraggi is still in business, but the only one that I've heard of that had them for the 3800 was Mechman for sure.

it won't fit on the III's so I guess it does not work on the II's either
I just wish all it would take is a different mounting bracket on the alt then it would work, as it is the thing is much bigger and heavier then the stock alt thats for sure
