Not sure if this is where I should post this. Just bought a 2004 Grand Prix GT2. She needed new wires, plugs and a pcv valve. My husband installed everything and before he fired her up the DIC had a reduced engine power message but there is no reduction in power, she actually has more pick up. We do have the Pontiac qwerk of dieing out after an initial start. She starts fine cold but after shutting off she will stall when you start back up, little gas and it's fine the rest of the day.
Hubby said the throttle body needs a cleaning and will install new terminals also, old ones are crappy.
I also had the tire pressure check pop up after he aired up the tires but I reset that and no more messages.
The PCV valve we installed was the cheaper one, could it be that causing the reduced power message? We can't put the old one back in, it literally fell apart.
I took her to my tranny guy prior to buying her and he ran a full scan, only a few things showed but they were things like AC door sensor and an airbag sensor. No engine or tranny codes.
Could the tune up have caused a sensor issue?
I also told him to check the wire harness for chafing.
Are we on the right road here? I could not find one post where someone had that message WITHOUT a reduction in power, like I said she has way more pick up, the wire were the original ones and she has 105,000 on her. The PCV valve was also original.
Any help is appreciated, I just think it's weird that the message pops up but no reduction. On a whim i am also gonna take her around the block and check the traction control, I think I saw the swervy car with a line through it on my dash, maybe it got turned off, but it does not show on the DIC.

Another thought, he replaced the ball joints the other day, could he have hit a sensor in the wheel and caused this?

Edit: Just took it for a spin, traction control is on now, it was off. Reduced engine power message shows only when key is in accesary and check engine shows on dash, start it up and both the check engine and reduced power disappear. There is definetley no reduction in power, it's all there trust me. I also get the washer fluid is low message and that is full so I'm thinking a faulty sensor, but which one.

if its not on when the cars running i wouldnt be concerned.

Also traction control light should only come on when you're having traction issues.

If its on all the time then its possible the sensor is at fault causing that.

It was the battery terminals, they were crappy. Put all new ones on and the message went away.
