Why are you ordering a top end swap PCM?

Top end swap, or top swap, is where you take the top end of your engine (heads, LIM, UIM, TB, etc) and swap it for L67 (supercharged) top end parts. That way you become supercharged.

With that out of the way, a PCM isn't hard to install. Just takes 30 minutes (for the security learn) and you may need a CASE learn. Although, I recommend it be done with a PCM install anyway. Takes either a Aeroforce gauge, DHP Powrtuner, HPT may do it, or a Tech 2 type computer.

Oh, and don't over tighten the connectors.

    Why?

Security learn is easy and doesn't require anything special other than your key. I know I've posted it on here before, so I'd suggest searching.

Option 1 should be "None Selected".

The only option you should be messing with is Option 4 if you want (plus the others that are required).

I think it's under the PCM section.

Slam me if you want, but if your doing a top swap and you wonder about doing a PCM replacement, you're going to have some problems.

PCM swap is pretty easy. Disconnect negative battery cable, remove airbox, unscrew old PCM, reverse.

And, as far as the "experience/knowledge" stuff, we all had to start somewhere.

Good for you that most of the W-body forums are a good place to learn.

You don't need a tuner. Go by the dealer and ask them how much for a CASE learn. It'd be a lot cheaper that way (unless you want the tuner for other reasons, they run about $400+). Tell the dealer you just changed your crank position sensor and want them to CASE learn it. Make sure they don't flash your PCM (one guy had that happen and they flashed over his new PCM file ).

Any GM dealership would do. You might get a better reception at a Chevy or Pontiac dealer since those brands have more "do-it-yourself" buyers.

Try and save yourself $50 and see if someone close would be willing to help you do a case learn. The dealership is probably going to charge you minimal diagnosis time to do the CASE.

Just tryin' to save you a little cash.
