Ok so we just got a L36 gp se. We're new to the v6's, so i have no clue where to start with this. Im wondering what are some of the cheap mods or better mods to do before doing the top swap? Is there any "free" mods that we can do, like DIY PP, or cam advance/retard?

    Thanks,

the second you start modding you basically need to tune the car.

Only free mod worth doing is flipping your dog bones. thats it.

Then save for the top swap.

thanks guys, it did feel like it launched a little harder with that bushing flipped. But roughly how much are we looking at, to do the top swap?

$300-500 for hard parts, $220 for headers, $200-300 for gaskets and $200 for a street tune.

    Total: $920-1220

thank you, one more question, what do you guys think about putting a turbo on this motor? i was reading about kits, but would it be possible to get the same parts for cheaper. It seems like it would cost just a little more to turbo, and we would be faster if we turbo'd.

Turbo is DOUBLE what i listed above + your tranmission which basically NEEDS beefing up at that power level.

well see, what i was thinking, was the exhaust manifold would be like 200 or so, turbo would run around 150, bigger injectors or just a afpr (50-150, 50), and we could run like 5 psi until we got a computer, and 5 psi would still be a nice jump. But, idk about OBDII either really.

so we're looking at like 600-650, correct me if im wrong or not though.

and we would worry about tranny once it quit, and rebuild with better clutch's and so on.

Im just going off of what i would pay if i bought a turbo for my car.(mazda 626) The GP is a buddies car, but we're both building it. I dont know what turbo i would be looking for yet, so thats just a guess. I was hoping that a turbo i could find on a production car would be good. What are the common turbos that people run on these motors?

Just to throw this out there, we just got the car a couple weeks ago, so I really dont know anything about these cars, and we're just trying to figure out what path we're going to go with it right now.

    story over lol.
