I was wondering what would I need to swap an L26 into my 98 gt with a L36.

All I would need to do would be swapping the upper intakes and the throttle bodies correct.

a buddy of mine did his, but i havent seen him to ask the details yet

cause i can get one with 30K miles for $475, plus i wont have to worry bout warpage or leaks from the upper intake because its aluminum.

I thought it did make 20 more hp or maybe that was torque

I thought you mentioned swapping the UIM? If you put on an L36 UIM, it should be a pretty straight forward swap, using the L36 UIM, TB, fuel rail, and injectors. If you want to keep the L26 UIM, you'll need a Gen V adapter plate, block off the EVAP port on the UIM, extend some vac lines to reach the TB, and run a new inlet for the PCV similar to what people do to swap to a Gen V blower.

OK so i finally got the engine and it's here.

my questions to prep for install are these:

the L26 didn't come with a fly wheel, can i use the one from my L36?

the l26 didnt come with a power steering pump, can I use my L36 setup?

also am I going to be able to plug the L26 injectors right into my 98 GT injector harness?

I believe the balance is the same, so you should be fine.

I don't see why not. It's the same block.

No. Your 98 is going to have EV1 connectors. I know the L32 uses EV6 connectors, and I think the L26 does, but I'm not sure. Even if they don't, the L36 switched to Multec 2 connectors around 2000, so it's not going to be EV1. Why not just use your stock injectors?

FYI, the flywheel bolts are torque to yield. Make sure you get new ones.

sweet thanks for all the tips and advice guys.

So would I just be able to take out the injectors and put mine in their place, using the same fuel rail or would I have to use my fuel rail as well?

also I forgot to ask, will my A/C brackets and stuff mount up to the L26? I would assume so but just want to check

Also can I use my 98 Alternator stuff on the engine, cause it didnt come with an alternator or bracket

You need to use your L36 rail no matter what. The L26 is going to use a returnless fuel system which won't work with your car. Not sure on the other questions.

well duh, but im just asking so i know what has to come off of the engine thats in the car now.

    or

if i will end up having to get a different part before the engine goes in, that way im not spending more time than what I need to be stuck without an engine
