    i have a 97 gp my fuel pump died went looking for one and was asked if i had the first or second series pump? after a call to the dealer they told me i have the second series pump and i was wondering if anyone knows what the differance is and why they want $500 for my pump but i can get a pump for a bonneville for like $150? thanks for any help

    i was told 97 is a one year pump and there were two types? but looking at pics on the net i cant see the differance?

    the pictures on the internet are all probably stock photos so they'll be the same for different parts. therefore, no help to you.

    you can always switch to a 98+ setup (which would probably benefit you in the end).

    97s and some of 98s came with a steel tank. the rest are plastic. i dont know that youd need to change this, but youll most likely have to change the canister that the fuel pump sits in along with it.

    i got a 01 fuel pump from a friend all i had to do was change the seal and clip the little square nib to locate the pump off seems to run fine now!!!!

    I know that the connectors on the canister differ from year to year.. The pump itself doesnt.

    I thought at one point there was a changeover to a "returnless fuel system" This did not change the pump?

    the 04+ cars (L26/L32) have the returnless fuel system.
