Hi, my 2000 GT has been having a hesitation while idling for the past month or so. I have noticed a significant drop in gas mileage since this hesitation has started. I have changed the Coil Packs and there is no change. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions as to what to do? Could it be plugs and wires, if so how much should that cost to replace them? Thanks for any suggestions!

why did you do coils before plugs? Plugs run from about $1.50 each to about $7.00 each, wires are about $30. Always start with easy maintenance items like plugs. What else has been changed on the car?

well because last time I had this problem, it was a coil pack. Also you think changing plugs and wires is easier than replacing coil packs???

about the same difficulty level, once youve done it a couple of times. However, I believe he meant cheaper and things that because they are part of normal maintenance, would more likely cause a problem.

If you can find someone with a scanner like HPTuners or Powertune it can help take some of the guesswork out of troubleshooting.
