Hey guys. My SS M90 kit is on the way, and I've been looking into options for cylinder heads. I currently have a 2001 Grand Prix GT with the L36 motor. As you guys know, this kit uses stock GT heads. I found a pair of basically brand new L26 heads which I am planning on porting and polishing for my setup. These should bolt right up, correct?

why are you changing the heads for? you shoulda just did a top swap then and saved the cash you laid out for the fuel logs and the lower intake manifold, and the blower cnc'ing.
to answer your question yes they will work

First off, my heads have 200,000 km on them. It would be nice to refresh my engine a little bit while I'm adding some boost to it. I'm going to port and polish the L26 heads to give me some extra power, instead of spending $1500+ on vender heads. In retrospect, I would have done the top swap, but I didn't, so I'm going to work with what I have. Thanks for the response man!

well you knew from the beginning you were going to change the heads so all you needed were a re-maned set of heads from a machine shop, and im sure they would have ported and polished them for less than $300. it sucks you spent money on the logs and the core charges when you didnt have to. oh well lesson learned, if you still want those pulleys you can have them

Seems like a waste to polish the heads on a SS setup. Your not going to gain much at all and you could possibly run into more problems getting the different heads to seal on your 200k block?

Why would it be a waste? It's still a supercharged motor. So you don't recommend I do anything to the heads?

I haven't officially bought the L26 heads yet...

It is because it is run off of one belt...and IMO...talk about parasitic loss. Plus, SSM90 kits run like 4.0" ish pulleys...not my idea of a good setup...I'd rather run a Top Swap with an IC and headers and make 50 more horse at least with a 3.4"

Ugh I feel like an idiot. I ordered it because the installation will be much easier than a top swap... And I'm just getting ripped apart for it.

Anyways, when I was researching the SS M90, I didn't find one person who had significant belt slip. So I guess we'll see. There have been guys who run 3.4"-3.6" pulleys with this setup, plus some guy hit 250 WHP with a 4.0" pulley. That's not bad... If I hate the SS setup, I can always swap the pulleys for GTP ones, and run a 2 belt setup. Plus, I'll have the machined intake manifold/blower for better airflow anyways.

yeah 250 on a dyno jet...divide that by 1.135 and thats the true number. i ran a single belt 3.4 pulley and my car never slipped and went plenty fast. installation was easier because i didnt swap my heads and tear my engine apart. when i put in my L32 i bought new re-maned L36 heads and reused my SS kit, its now on a GTP dual belt setup with a 2.8 pulley

Nice. No slip, and fast. I think the SS M90 kit is thrown under the bus too much, just because it doesn't "look" as good to some people. I see plenty of people with nothing but good things to say about it.
