    Hello all,

I have ordered and received the Dorman intake manifold that I plan to replace on my 02 GP N/A. It looks pretty complete with all necessary gaskets, o-rings, etc. but I have a question. In the middle of the gasket assembly, there is a plastic tube (about 1/4" dia.) that is about 9 inches long and has a 90 degree bend on one end. It is not connected to anything, but is held in place by 2 plastic clips in the middle of the plastic webbing of the gasket assembly. I have not removed my old intake yet, but I just can't figure out what this tube would be for. Does anyone know what it is for and, do I need it?

IIRC when I did the swap on a L36 LeSabre...I yanked it out...car has still ran fine since as when I pulled off the manifold it was just kinda hanging out in there anyways. Sorry if that doesn't help you but that's what I got.

When I instaled the HV3 into my intake I did not reinstall the tube. I have had no issues with it being removed.

That is the tube for the PCV valve. If you can get it to mate up with the PCV valve hole, on the top left side of the upper intake manifold, use it. If not toss it. I tossed mine when I installed the HV3 last summer. It’s not a biggy, it just directs vapor from the crankcase that really doesn’t need directing.

Ten years of continuous driving excitement and counting!

Thanks to all for your replies. I just thought I'd add a note to those who are looking for a UIM. I bought the Dorman replacement manifold (#615-180) and even though I have not yet installed it (waiting for warmer weather without 30" of snow on the ground), it seems to be very complete. All gaskets, O rings, pcv valve, MAP sensor cage, vacuum take-off, etc. And, I bought it at Amazon for the measly price of $58.00. And, free shipping, no sales tax. This is the cheapest price I have seen anywhere. I couldn't believe the price since the gasket set alone elsewhere is $42.00 without anything else. Don't know how they are selling it at that price, but who cares.... Autozone has the same item for $130.00.
Now all I have to do is gather the rest of the parts I need to do the LIM and valve cover gaskets....
    Thanks again.
